Australian Math Competition

Last week, NOVA students in Year 7 to 9 participated in the Australian Math Competition (AMC).  The AMC is one of the biggest annual events on the Australian education calendar and has been held annually since 1978.   It has grown to be one of the largest of its type in the world with more than 30 countries participating each year. We are pleased to offer Lakeland students the opportunity to participate in this internationally recognised competition.

Good luck to everyone!

WA Gridiron Representatives

The 2019/2020 WA Gridiron season has just finished, and 2 senior students from Lakeland Senior High School were an integral part of the Perth Blitz Gridiron Club Women's team. The women's team went through the season undefeated, with a convincing 26-8 win in the grand final.

Grace McFillin and April Alan were both first year players in the sport, and excelled with the amazing athleticism and passion.

Only a week after the grand final, the Perth Blitz held their awards night, where the girls also received the following awards:
April Alan:
Women's Players Player
Rookie of the Year

Grace McFillin:
Offensive MVP

These girls, at such a young age, have huge potential for the future in this sport. Congratulations April and Grace.

COVID-19 Update

On 22 March State Premiers and Chief Ministers agreed that at this time schools will remain open through to the end of the current school term to support students whose parents choose to send them to school. This does not alter our previous advice.

Teachers are not expected to provide work packages for students whose parents have chosen to keep them home without seeking medical advice, before the end of Term1.   The priority for staff is to maintain focus on classroom learning programs.

The Education Department is working to provide online access to resources for parents, caregivers and students.  This will be through the Learning at home website.  The website is now available and resources will continue to be added over the coming weeks.

Our teachers will continue to use Connect as their primary source of teaching resources.  The materials published on the Learning at home website will also be available in Connect.
