Down In Front

Drama Club's 2019 end of year play is "Down in Front".

It's opening night at the charming, old Harlequin Theatre- but the entertainment isn't onstage- it's all happening in the lobby! The mystery develops when it is discovered that someone is sabotaging the theatre before the Fire Marshall arrives!  Who would be trying to get the old theatre shut down?  Could it be the nasty theatre critic who has never had a kind word for the Harlequin?  The leading man (who is a bit past his prime, to say the least!)?  Ushers Candy or Frieda since Gary seems to be dating both of them?  The list of possibilities is as long as the laughs in this hilarious farce that goes to show you that all the drama isn’t onstage.  A lot of it happens Down in Front!

Performance nights: Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th December.

Tickets on sale now through the front office. Hurry- seats are limited.

ILLUMINATE

Lakeland SHS Arts subjects once again hosted Illuminate (Arts Showcase). Two nights of performances and art work were on show to promote the hard work and commitment of our students. Both nights consisted of performances in the Theatre with intermission in the Library where there was an Art Exhibition with artwork from our students and our local primary school students along with some light snacks.

Cultural Day Assembly 2019

Cultural Day Assembly

Cultural Day is always fun at Lakeland SHS but last Friday was something special.

There were wonderful performances from our students, a surprise flash mob dance by our staff followed by a scrumptious morning tea.

Massive thanks must go to Salome, our school Chaplain for organising this occasion. Special thanks also go to Dawn Ugle for acknowledging our Indigenous heritage and all of our ex students who also returned to support this day.

Thank you to all of our parents, guardians and special guests who were there to celebrate with us.

We can't wait for next year!

Runner Up State Medalist

CONGRATULATIONS to Year 9 student Demi

Demi was Runner-Up in the State Medal Exam for the Intermediate Cecchetti Ballet Competition.

While her ballet school would love her to be full time with them, they are formulating a program where she can pursue both school and ballet. This is new territory for the ballet school as most students are in full time programs with external schooling.

What a fantastic achievement Demi!

Debating

Congratulations to our Year 7 debating team who successfully argued that humans shouldn't have to apologise to animals against Melville SHS.  Our Year 9 team won against Harrisdale SHS - a happy pig is always better than an unhappy philosopher.  The Year 8 team were narrowly defeated by Rossmoyne SHS arguing the pros and cons of robots.

Mrs Ferraro is extremely proud of all debaters for taking on board feedback and striving to get better each round.  They are great representatives of our school.
