Canberra Trip

Current Year 8 and 9’s

Are you interested in going to Canberra? Perhaps some time in Sydney with a day of Snow Skiing?

HASS are running an Information Session and handing out Expression of Interest Forms  for the excursion with the aim of taking a group away in 2022.

There will be an information LUNCHTIME WEDNESDAY 12TH MAY (WEEK 4) in the LIBRARY.

See Mr Mellor if you have questions ABOUT THE MEETING (not the excursion).

Face Masks

Following the directive from Premier Mark McGowan last night, we are required, by law, to wear masks indoors and whilst not able to socially distance outside for one more week.

Please be aware that it is the responsibility of the student and families to have their own masks with them at all times. We recommend carrying a spare mask in their bags in case of breakage, loss or the mask becoming dirty. The school is not responsible for providing masks to students.  Any student who does not have a mask with them will, unfortunately, have to be sent home until such time as they can return with the appropriate face covering.

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

ANZAC Day Commemoration

ANZAC Day - Indigenous Serviceperson Garden sprinkling of soil ceremony.

On Friday 23 April, we held our ANZAC Day Service followed by a ceremony in our Indigenous Serviceperson Garden, sprinkling soil from Mirning Country in recognition of Gordon Naley.

In our Indigenous garden there are 13 soldiers recognised for their efforts at Gallipoli, 12 of these were Noongar men, one, Gordan Naley was from Mirning Country.

We were joined by Trevor Naley, grandchild of Private Naley and Chair of Mirning Aboriginal Corporation, Philip Mason, nephew of Arthur, William, John, Henry and Randell Mason, Cheryl Townsend Assistant Director of Education , City of Cockburn Mayor and Mrs Howlett, Deputy Mayor Lara Kirkwood, representatives from the Armed services, Rotary and many other special guests. We are very proud of students who worked hard to bring the events together.

COVID-19 Update

Dear parent/carer

I am writing to advise that our school will be open Tuesday, 27 April to welcome students.

You may have seen the WA Government announce the three-day lockdown for Perth and Peel will be lifted as of 12.01am on Tuesday, 27 April, with a post-lockdown transition period until 12.01am on Saturday, 1 May.

Secondary students and all teachers must wear masks. Teachers can remove masks to teach.

Following this latest health advice our school remains open for learning and parents/carers will be able to drop their children at school.

The safety of staff and students is a priority and extra cleaning and hygiene measures continue. The latest health information is available through WA Health Department

I look forward to welcoming your child back.

BUILDING WORKS - ACCESS RESTRICTION

There will be no access from Lakelands Oval to the rear of the school (behind the gym and Phys Ed Office) due to building works.

Students will need to enter school grounds via Berrigan Dr or South Lake Dr.

The area will be fenced off at the end of today.

TRANSPERTH SERVICE CHANGE

As of Monday 19 April the afternoon bus services will undergo minor stand and time changes.

HASS WEEK

Next week is HASS Week!

To celebrate, there will be a DRESS UP DAY on the last day of school (Thursday 1 April).

Students and staff will be dressing up as a famous person before 1950.  Students can ask their HASS teacher for ideas if unsure.

Early Close

Due to Parent Teacher Evening, there will be an early closure for students at 1.30pm on Tuesday 16 March, 2021.

Parent Teacher Online

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Guardians,

Parent-Teacher interviews will be held from 2.00pm to 7.00pm on Tuesday 16 March 2021. Students will receive slips with login information today to bring home.

The booking system will open to make bookings from 12pm on Tuesday 9 March 2021.

Interviews will be of 10-minute duration.

For these interviews we are using an online booking system called Parent Teacher On-Line (PTO). It will save time for parents, staff and students!

Using this system, you will be able to book the interview times that suit you best from any internet enabled device. PTO also has its own free app for Apple and Android devices. A computer will be available in reception during school hours if you do not have internet access at home or elsewhere.

Please access the system as follows:

  • Go to the school’s home page: lakelandshs.wa.edu.au

  • Click on the following link: PTO

  • Download the PTO app from the app store and use the 5 digit code at the end of the schools PTO service URL, which is 2ephr to register

  • Click “Obtain PIN/Password” and enter your email address. Your PIN will be emailed to you. The email you receive will include a link that can be clicked on to log straight into PTO, bypassing the login screen.

OTHERWISE you can enter your surname and PIN, provided on the slip brought home by students.

Full instructions are provided to you after log in. Please note the following points:

  • When you log on, the system displays only your own child/children. Bookings are made for individual parents/guardians, not for couples. Couples can however log on to the system simultaneously to coordinate bookings. If two parents/guardians wish to attend a single interview time slot, one parent/guardian should make the booking then both can attend.

  • You will only see time slots that are available at the time you are using the system. As time slots are booked for teachers, those time slots are no longer displayed as available. PTO prevents double-booking of teachers or parents/guardians.

  • When you have made all the bookings you require, you can download or email a report of your bookings in time order for printing. You can log in and change bookings any time up to 12.00pm on the day of interviews (Tuesday 16 March)

  • If you see this symbol displayed along side the class name, it means this teacher recommends that you book an interview.

  • Other parents may be making bookings at the same time that you are using the system. It is possible, though unlikely, that a time slot is displayed to you as available, but is then booked by another parent shortly afterwards. If you then attempt to book this time slot it will not be available and a message will be displayed to indicate this.

  • If you encounter any problems using PTO please contact the school office by phone on 6172 2200, or by email to lakeland.shs@education.wa.edu.au
