Lakeland SHS - Learning Pathways, welding

A Pathway for Every Child

Although we are a small school, we pride ourselves on offering a diverse range of learning pathways, from General to ATAR courses, as well as specialised programs in Music Technologies, Sport Science, and Education Support.

Our pathways include:

General Courses: Broad-based education for a wide range of interests and future opportunities, aimed at those students interested in a vocational career, employment or technical and further education (TAFE).

Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Courses: Rigorous academic programs designed to prepare students for university entrance. Being a small school, we have a higher teacher-to-student ratio, which enhances teacher instruction and fosters deeper learning.

Vocational Programs: We offer several school based Cert II courses and the opportunity for students to study Cert III & Cert IV courses as well as part of their learning program.

Education Support: Lakeland offers senior students Endorsed Programs, such as Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN).

Key Features of ASDAN:

  • Personalised Learning: ASDAN programs are designed to cater to individual student needs, promoting independent living and communication skills.
  • Skill Development: Courses such as “Towards Independence” and “Workright” help students develop practical skills for everyday life and future employment.
  • Accreditation: Students receive accredited certificates upon completion of ASDAN modules, which are recognised by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) in Western Australia.
  • Inclusive Education: ASDAN supports inclusive education by providing flexible and engaging curriculum programs that accommodate various learning abilities.

Specialised Interests:

Specialist Music Technology: Explore the world of music production and technology.

Lakeland Elite Athlete Program (LEAP): Dive into the science behind sports performance and health.
